MIOSM – 40th Music In Our Schools Month

March is Music in Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®)! Music educators in South Carolina will celebrate this important month through concerts, celebrations, and advocacy activities.

For 40 years, March has been designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as a time to focus on music education across the country. MIOSM®‘s purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all students and to remind citizens that school is where young people should have access to music. This month provides an opportunity to celebrate through intentional advocacy and creative activities that highlight music programs throughout communities in South Carolina and share the benefits of high-quality music education programs in schools.

This year, NAfME has shared free, sample lesson plans for elementary through high school and even have a lesson plan for class guitar. Check out these lessons, concert inserts, and advocacy tools!
